International insights and outlooks
In May, the new Häfele employee magazine MÄG arrived in the real or digital mailboxes of around 8,000 colleagues worldwide: Available in seven languages, printed and as a flip page edition on the global intranet. The cover story of the first issue: A Spirit of Adventure.

We at bering*kopal are very proud that we were able to help develop and support the project from the very beginning. Especially in economically challenging times, it is not a matter of course for companies to invest in a printed magazine. The kick-off workshop with Häfele's internal editorial and graphics team began last February. We quickly agreed that fast, internal communication via digital channels is important and right — but that a high-quality, printed magazine represents a level of appreciation for employees that should not be underestimated.
And a well-made, printed medium - a "coffee table mag" - is a much more impressive way of conveying special content.

Gregor Riekena, CEO Häfele, says of the MÄG idea: "Digital, fast communication channels definitely have their place. But we don't just want to inform, we want to inspire with exciting stories from the entire Häfele world, convey pride, make people smile or think, convey cultural specialities and, above all, unifying values."
That was our goal with the first issue of MÄG and in late autumn 2023 we got to work at full speed! Over 40 pages were completely redesigned, laid out, copywritten, illustrated, proofread, translated and finally printed.

The most exciting thing for us is the inspiring collaboration with the global editorial team. The "Häfele World" is currently divided into seven regions, each of which delivers a story on the topic of the magazine. Such stories cannot be "centrally controlled" and always surprise us anew.
No less exciting: the great collaboration with the core team at Häfele in Nagold. Thanks to the Häfele employees for their trust in us: especially to Sarah Grünler and Florian Ohmenhäuser, who manage the editing and technology and processes at MÄG, to Johannes von Freydorf, responsible for layout and graphics, and to Cindy Rösch, who coordinates everything. And above all, chapeau for your work: designing such a magazine from scratch in around six months and filling it with editorial life is a great achievement.
And the next MÄG is already in the starting blocks and will be published at the end of the year. We are already looking forward to co-creating the content!
